Oh my god, it's only the 1st day!!?? I'm already tired! Dragged getting down to the con today. I didn't have any definate panel plans, so it was just hanging around the dealers room till the Stargate movie. Last night, we'd worked out that we needed two more passes to the red-carpet Continuum premier. The two we had were for the fanatical of us, but two others were interested, if we couldn't swing it. So, 1st thing in the dealers room I headed straight for the Stargate Worlds booth to see the line and give it a try. We were all going to make the attempt that day (as the screening was Thur night).
Today, they had several 'booth bunnies' - ie, people dressed up for the booth - 4 jaffa, 2 male and 2 female. And no line. Well, a small group in front of me, a guy and his 2 kids taking pictures with the jaffa. The kids (about 5/7 age range) then went up the ramp to check out the stargate, but were not really interested, and were coming back to their dad WHEN THEY WON. I'm not kidding. None of them knew what it was for. I was standing next to the dad (and about to go up for my try), and my comment to him was along the lines of 'darn!'
Anyway, the kids were handed the passes and stepped off the ramp. I went up, didn't get (of course, since it was just won). As I stepped off, the dad was explaining to his kids what the passes were for, asking if that's what they were interested in, if they wanted to go. His next comment to them was 'if you don't want to go, this nice lady would be interested in having them.' Both kids turned to me and handed the passes up with smiles and said have fun. I was flabbergasted, thanked both kids, gave them a hug and all but bounced in place. I was impressed the dad didn't overrule the kids and/or take the passes. Rather, the kids won them, and he was giving them the choice if they wanted to do that for that evening.
Okay, it's fuzzy, but here's a pic of me at the Stargate Worlds booth. Taken later in the day.

The rest of the day, spent wandering the dealers room, haunting the sci-fi booth for buttons, spending money in the dealers room and going through the art show. All in all, a lot of walking!!
Around 5:30 we all met up for heading out to get in line for the Red Carpet party, which wasn't too far away, a short bus ride, then walk. I had wanted to leave at 5:00, but we actually didn't get going till after 5:30. We got to the Midway a few minutes after 6:00pm, with a sizeable line already there. I was a little worried about how far back we were, but then a lot more people started arriving, so we ended up being pretty much dead center of the line. First they let in a lot of press and VIP's, then the actors arrived, and then, finally, they started to let us in, but in small groups with pauses. As we got closer to the front, near 7:30, another pause. Then they said '25 more', so, I think we barely squeezed in!! Whew. Though we were at the front of that '25'. Climbed up and onto the flight deck - with planes and all where they had it all set up for that evening. The actors were all on a red-carpet running the press gauntlet and we were quickly escorted past that. They had bleachers, chairs and a large screen set up - as well as free food and drinks (soda)! yay! Dinner of popcorn, candy and pretzels! :) Quite a number of the main cast was there - actually, I think they all were, as well as some other Sci-Fi stars. We got really good seats, practically at the top of the bleachers, but with the stepped view, quite nice, and in the center. Quite happy about that. Finally, the press let the stars out - and they had seats in the middle of all of us. Some people tried for pics, but I had a bad angle so I didn't try.
Then, movie!! I could go on about it - but it was a lot of fun. The sun had gone down, the crowd was having a fun time, the screen was great, the sound system not bad (except for one small glitch they fixed). We all had a grand time, and you know, they threw a really great party. I'm glad we scored tickets, and so were all my friends. Then everyone sort of split, and we all crawled home and I really should get to bed because tomorrow is a very early day and the Stargate panels!
My only pic I took standing in line at the Premier party.

Swag: Sci-Fi buttons: Sheppard, Woolsey, 2 different Ghosthunters, Sanctuary; 4 book promos, 2 free books, handful of postcards & bookmarks, another 'Big Fracken Bag' (and they are not kidding, my shoulder is KILLING me), DVD, 3 posters, Ghosthunters bobblehead, magazine, heroes comic, Stargate Worlds T-shirt, 2 more Continuum passes.
