It was good to see Michael Shanks all dressed up :) And that was part of the joke. When he first came on stage (and got whistles), he took the mike and proceeded to tell us that because of complaints about him being scruffy, he dressed all the way up for us and were we happy now? (though he said to not give him a hard time because he forgot his black socks) More whistles. Oh my, he sure does dress up nice that's for sure!
And yea, I much prefer snazzy to some of his normal con wear, in which in prior cons it was jeans, t-shirt and baseball cap! Which no, he did NOT take off the baseball cap in the photo ops - which I think really got some of the grumbling going.
He did two photo ops, one scruffy (though it was still a nice black shirt and no baseball cap - just unshaven), and this version. I, uhm, picked this version. And so did 98% of the rest of the con - considering the HUGE line!!
Michael mostly stayed sitting, so I got a lot of really nice pictures. He talked about being happy at working on SGU and had done another guest spot recently. He said to give it a chance and seemed confused by a few of the boos. It was a very mixed reaction from the crowd. There are people who are looking forward to it. I can see, from Michael's view, hey - he's getting to do Daniel some more - 5 years after SG1 was canceled! So to him, it's a huge boost.
He was kidded on the number of horrible 'movies of the week' that he's done, and told us to not watch them, and that yea, sometimes he's not picked the best. LOL. He's working on a new disaster movie, but didn't tell much about it.
Asked who was the better kisser on SG1, he sidestepped and said his wife - and that we didn't see it, but Daniel and Lam had a hot and heavy thing going on behind the scenes. Uh huh, their actors sure did!
